WU16: Foxes Bruck – Blue Devils WRN 26:68

In their home game against the Blue Devils from Wiener Neustadt, the Foxes Bruck wU16 had set clear goals: transitioning quickly into defense and applying aggressive pressure on the opponent’s ball handler. However, the start was bumpy, as the team played too passively and gave the guests too much space. Even an early timeout in the first quarter couldn’t break the visitors‘ rhythm.

The Blue Devils consistently capitalized on their chances, particularly through the pick & roll. While the Bruck defense often focused on the ball handler, the rolling player repeatedly found a clear path to the basket. The Foxes also struggled on offense: their own plays were rarely rewarded, and determined drives and shots too often resulted in misses. Despite missing several players, the clear 31-point deficit at halftime didn’t reflect the girls‘ true potential.

After the break, however, the team showed true character. The game plan was executed much better, making it significantly harder for the visitors to score. Sylvia and Olivia, in particular, displayed outstanding fighting spirit, never gave up for a single second, and fought for every loose ball. Even though the Blue Devils continued to score off pick & rolls or second chances following offensive rebounds, the defensive improvement was clearly visible.

Now the focus is on stepping up efforts in the upcoming practice sessions to be well prepared for the next challenges.
