The MU16 Foxes went into this game full of confidence, having secured clear victories in the first two rounds while delivering very strong performances.

With plenty of energy and ambition, the young Foxes kicked off the match and really hit the ground running.

Thanks to great defense on the one hand and a strong offense on the other, they opened up a clear 21-point lead in the 1st quarter, leading 23:2 after 10 minutes.

In the 2nd quarter, the tide turned completely. Many technical mistakes crept into the game of the Bruck boys, finishes suddenly refused to drop, and the guests from Traiskirchen seemed to make everything work.

Coach Marcel’s squad also showed weaknesses on defense in man-to-man coverage, conceding no less than 28 points. Due to many unfocused actions, the great early lead melted away more and more, leaving the halftime score at 41:30.

After the break, the Young Foxes recovered better; Traiskirchen’s run was contained more effectively, and a balanced game developed. However, Traiskirchen played extremely rough and often unfairly for large stretches. Alongside countless moving screens on pick-and-roll plays, several unsportsmanlike fouls were committed that posed a serious risk of injury for the Bruck boys.

The result was countless interruptions, and in the end, the match lasted nearly 2 hours—without overtime, mind you!

The Foxes players did not let themselves get rattled by the guests‘ exceedingly rough style of play, trying to stay focused and keep their eyes on the game.

Toward the end of the game, things got really exciting. Thermenregion went on a run to cut the deficit to 4 points, while Bruck fought back against the visitors‘ continued extremely hard and unfair play.

The Foxes managed to summon their final strength and, not least thanks to a strong defensive effort, held on to the narrow lead to secure their 3rd win of the season.
